The Backstory

"

You'd rather see me in the pen
Than me and Lorenzo rollin' in the Benzo
Beat a police outta shape
And when I'm finished, bring the yellow tape

..

"

This line is sung by rapper Ice Cube from the legendary hip-hop group N.W.A, formed in Compton, California. They were among the earliest and most significant popularizers of the gangsta rap subgenre, and the group is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential in the history of hip-hop music.

The song addresses the issue of police brutality, a significant political concern at that time in California. It explores how police would often pull over Black individuals driving high-end cars, such as a Benz, assuming they had stolen them.

Production Note

I focused heavily on graphic elements in this video, using a strong, pure blue color that fills the entire screen to create a poppy, electronic, fun, and futuristic aesthetic.

The sound design was crafted by Feuca Works, paying homage to the original music.

Animation done in After Effects.
